The Chapeaux table lamp is a new product from the manufacturer Foscarini

A refined and elegant luminaire that can change its personality through the hat it wears. With Chapeaux, the research begun by Rodolfo Dordoni with Buds (transparent base and powerful diffuser) goes one step further, adding a new level of versatility that changes the character of the luminaire, its quality of light and its decorative effect.

Die Tischleuchte Chapeaux eine Neuheit von Foscarini

The components of Chapeaux, which are easy to remove for cleaning, have been reduced to a minimum. The conceptual core of the project is the inclusion of three diffuser caps in different shapes, materials and designs: three made of metal, two made of glass and one made of porcelain. Open in the centre, they rest on the transparent borosilicate glass luminaire body, which also carries the light source: an ampoule that contains the lighting components and appears to float in the glass.
The light bulb is designed to emit the light into the diffusers so that it reaches the table top with an intense but soft light without dazzling. The small stem above the light sphere is a multi-position touch dimmer that can be used to control the on/off functions and vary the light intensity. The transparency of the fixture enhances the magic of the experience: when the light is switched off, the transparent glass body almost disappears from view; when the light is switched on, it appears discreet and conveys its substance.
The choice of hat also determines the quality of the light. The metal version, which is white on the inside, reflects the light onto the surface below, which is perfect for illuminating the desk. The glass and bone china hats offer a softer, atmospheric experience as the brightness penetrates the diffuser and makes it glow from within. Thanks to the shape of the hats, with a central opening, the light is also emitted upwards, making the Foscarini Chapeaux perfect for illuminating the surrounding space.
