The new Porto pendant light from German manufacturer Mawa

It will soon be that time again – the big reunion at home with a cosy festive meal with friends and family. Our new product, the Porto pendant light, is a must. From the small dining table to the long banqueting table, the Porto adapts to the spatial conditions and can be hung linearly over several metres or in formations. The Porto pendant luminaire also impressed the jury of the Brandenburg Design Award 2021, with Mawa founder Martin Wallroth and designer Prof. Herrmann Weizenegger receiving an award in the product design category (focus on craftsmanship) for the Porto luminaire system. ‘How can a luminaire system respond to complex spatial situations?’ Hermann August Weizenegger answers this question with his design, the porto pendant luminaire, realised by mawa. The highly innovative luminaire can be adapted to a wide variety of spatial conditions and asserts itself confidently in living and working environments. The housing of the Porto pendant light, milled from a single piece of aluminium, is unique and is accentuated by brushed brass or stainless steel highlights. The outer skin of the luminaire is bent, folded and joined using specially developed manufacturing processes. The hinges enable a linear, circular or free arrangement.
