Bonbori and Shadows Exterior are two Brokis outdoor collections for gardens, terraces and public spaces. Bonbori combines the form of a Japanese paper lantern with materials for outdoor use, while Shadows Exterior adapts the shape of the indoor light with a weatherproof body.
Bonbori: a Japanese paper lantern in glass
Japanese designer Fumie Shibata took inspiration from traditional paper lanterns for Bonbori. In Japanese, the name also describes the gentle light coming from a snowy cave. A handblown shade made from several layers of carefully moulded glass translates this idea into glass.

Bonbori outdoors: IP44 and stainless steel
Bonbori is available as a floor light in two sizes and as a wall light. The wall version is engineered for installation both outdoors and indoors. The collection complies with the IP44 rating for outdoor use.
The construction uses a simple stainless-steel base. Light passes gently through a diffuser and laser-cut openings in the steel. The frost-resistant LED light source is easy to remove, so the adaptation for outdoor use extends to both the material and the light source.
Bonbori received the Archiproducts Award in 2020. The following year, Elle Decoration chose the indoor version for the international EDIDA Award.
Shadows Exterior: the same shape, a different material
Shadows Exterior was designed by Lucie Koldova and Dan Yeffet. It retains the shape of the original indoor collection, while changing the body for the more demanding conditions outdoors. A two-piece weatherproof dural body replaces the handmade wooden body.
The collection complies with the IP54 rating and also suits interiors with increased humidity, such as wellness centres. Special integrated connectors developed by Brokis simplify the installation of large groups of lights, as well as their maintenance and cleaning.
