Ingo Maurer’s Moodmoon Framed brings together Japanese paper stretched over an aluminium frame and changing light moods. On an ash tripod or at the wall, it becomes a luminous picture.
Moodmoon Framed: Japanese paper on an aluminium frame
Light shines through Japanese paper stretched across an aluminium frame, creating gentle colour gradients on its surface. The enclosed frame gives the lamp the presence of a canvas: light and paper form a picture that changes with each mood.
For another way Ingo Maurer brings light and artistic expression together, see the Birdie lighting series.
Three ways to place it
Moodmoon Framed can stand on a light ash-wood tripod. Resembling an artist’s easel, it turns the lamp into a freestanding watercolour in the room. The frame can also lean against a wall or be mounted on it. These positions let it work either as an independent object or as a luminous wall picture.
Other takes on expressive wall lighting include Ingo Maurer’s Measure Light wall lamp and the sculptural Reality lamp.
Human Centric Lighting via the app
Like the original Moodmoon, Moodmoon Framed uses a Human Centric Lighting concept. The free Ingo Maurer Digital App for Android and Apple devices lets users select, adjust and dim its lighting moods. The closed frame also allows colour experiments without affecting the wall.
The earlier article about the Ingo Maurer app for smart light control explains the app’s introduction with the original Moodmoon.
17 lighting moods
Moodmoon Framed offers 17 lighting moods, including eight new creations inspired by designer Sebastian Hepting’s surroundings and by nature. Describing SUNRISE, Hepting says: “By observing the constant changes of light at dawn closely and attentively, I was able to capture unique impressions and translate them into animated moods.”
