Les Clarisses Boutique Hotel: calming atmosphere with the Vibia Flamingo

In projects such as the boutique hotel Les Clarisses, the special importance attached to lighting in the design concept becomes apparent as soon as you cross the threshold. Interior designer Susanna Cots agrees. The resulting atmosphere of calm and serenity does justice to the former, renovated monastery, where guests seek peace and relaxation. The sand colours, the organic shapes and the lighting create an architecture full of history and at the same time reinforce the essence of these rooms.

The search for well-being through light finds its sensory culmination in this project by interior designer Susanna Cots and Vibia Flamingo. What could be better than a former convent that has now become a boutique hotel and serves as a witness to silence, refuge and connection to create atmospheres full of calm and serenity for the enjoyment of relaxing days away from the noise and bustle? The history of the boutique hotel Les Clarisses dates back to the 17th century. The original aristocratic residence was taken over by the Dominican nuns after the Spanish Civil War, who converted the building in the old town district of Vic (province of Barcelona) into the Santa Clara convent. To convert it into a hotel, the building had to be adapted to modern-day comforts while preserving the heritage that characterises the building’s origins. Noble materials such as wood and stone are part of the essence of the hotel, which is characterised by a subtle design of elegant lines in which organic shapes and earthy colours play a special role. However, the lighting is particularly striking.
